Hi, my name is Glen Yancey and I'm currently 17 years old (2006) living in good ol' Saint Petersburg Florida. As far as art is concerned, I have been drawing for my entire life, but I have only started seriously drawing and practicing different artistic "techniques" since about 7th grade. So I guess you can say I'm a 5 year veteran of the arts!
Although my parents sparked my interests, I would have to say that, overall, my inspiration comes from cartoons and nature. I have always been fascinated with the traditional hand drawn magic that great artists such as Disney and Don Bluth have brought into this world, and honestly I think it will always continue to amaze me. Ever since I was a kid, I have been hooked to the old Looney Toons and animated movies, and now that I'm older I've started to appreciate the rather deep stories, and serious emotions that many animated productions carry. With such appreciation, I have been trying to emulate these same types of feelings by drawing cartoons myself.
If there is one movie that truly stands out in my mind it would have to be The Lion King. It was Disney's homage to Shakespeare's Hamlet, and I honestly consider that film to be the best animated motion picture of all time. It, along with so many other movies, carry deep, emotional stories that are played by characters which are not physically real, but still provide a great connection, if not a more powerful one, to the viewer than any human actor can portray. Cartoons just have an ability to take you out of reality, but still offer a "real" story. It's a pity that so few kids, and many adults can't see that.
As far as nature is concerned, well, I've always been immersed in it, and what I really enjoy about it is the way in which it is so intricately balanced. It is beautiful, savage, unforgiving, complex, pure, and utterly lacking innocence. With so much tangled in the web of nature, how could I not be inspired by it?
And then there was Big Cat Rescue. First off, the big cats have always been my passion of passions. In fact I've started memorizing the scientific names of as many as possible just for fun! I've studied them inside and out, and I could probably host my own show on "Animal Planet" by now. So, you can imagine how amazing it was for me to discover this place. I have always wanted to make a difference for the endangered animals of the world (and believe me when I say that there are too many of them) and Big Cat Rescue just seemed perfect for me. I wanted to help these people out in any way I could, and in turn help spread the word about the plight of big cats to anyone who would listen.
As of now all I can offer is my word, and my art, but eventually I hope to go even further. Once I'm 18, I'll apply to volunteer at Big Cat on site, and after going through veterinary school, I hope to start working in the captive breeding program of the Species Survival Plan (SSP).
And there ya have it folks! This is me in a nutshell! So, if you would like to know more, then please feel free to send me an email at squirrelydoom0@yahoo.com
I love it when people send me feedback for anything, so please don't hesitate to write!

Born in New Jersey in 1975 and son of John and Janet, Brian Demeter (Dem-eh-ter) knew he wanted to become an illustrator ever since kindergarten. When the teacher displayed Brian’s giraffe drawing on the board, fellow students offered to trade candy for unique pieces of original artwork for their own collection.
Brian moved to Ormond Beach, Florida when he started first grade and discovered
that the small beach town was a great place to explore. Riding his BMX bike
and playing in the woods were some of his favorite activities. “Ever
since I was little I would dress up like my favorite movie or TV characters
and go traipsing through the woods with my toy blaster or sword in hand.
The more authentic my props were, the better!” When his parents put
in the family’s new pool, Brian, his Sister Lori, and Brother Derek
enjoyed splashing the day away.
As the years advanced, so did Brian’s talent as he continued creating wonderfully colorful pieces of artwork throughout Elementary school and Junior High. “I remember drawing cartoons of my teachers. I’d make sure to over-exaggerate their features and place them in funny situations. The pictures would crack my friends up!”
In 1990, Brian’s family moved to Winter Springs, Florida, where he attended High School. “High School is where I really started to develop my painting skills. I remember that my first period class was Art, and it was a great way start to the day!”
Now, with a Degree in Design Technology, from Valencia Community College and years of hand-rendering experience, Brian prides himself in discovering new mediums and adding subtle embellishments to his illustrations. “I love the feeling that I get when a piece of artwork is finished and allowed to start living!”
Continually referencing his design background, Brian tries to keep his painting compositions dynamic, helping to bring the viewer face-to-face with the subject matter. “Response is key. If I try a new medium or technique, I love to hear how it made someone feel.”
Brian lives and works in Oviedo FL, with his wife Lindsay and cat Alex. For more information and artwork, please visit www.BrianDemeter.com
