Florida law requires that all charities soliciting donations disclose their registration number and the percentage of your donation that goes to the cause and the amount that goes to the solicitor. Our registration number is CH-11409 and non-program expenses are funded from tour income, so 100% of your donations go directly to save the cats. We are a 501 c 3 charity as determined by the IRS Federal ID#59-3330495. Our 990s are available online at GuideStar.org with a complete breakdown of how your donations are spent.

In Kind Donations

You may wonder sometimes is committing yourself to such daunting tasks as trying to "save the world" guarantees that you will change the lives of those you seek to help:

It does not.

But it is guaranteed to change yours.

These are some of the people that we are deeply indebted to for their dedication, donations and moral support.  We have over 20,000 of you to thank and can't name everyone here, but we do appreciate all that you do for the animals. What's more is that each one of these people, by giving of themselves, has become a better person.

BIG CAT ART CONTEST WINNER GETS INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION and BECOMES POPULAR POSTER

At the 2004 Fur Ball, with the help of Jay Goulde of the Outdoor Arts Foundation and the financial support of Jaguar of Tampa, Big Cat Rescue held an art contest. Well known area artists submitted pieces that were based on our cats. The winner was the striking fused glass piece entitled “Shere Power”, pictured here, by Lisa Vogt. It is based on our biggest tiger, Shere Khan. The piece was purchased in our auction at the Fur Ball by Mr. Charles Warner of Pennsylvania for $1,100.

Subsequently the piece became the subject of a three page article entitled “The Making of Shere Power” in the Feb/Mar issue of Glass Craftsman magazine.

Then, the piece was entered in an international competition called “Gallery of Excellence”, held in Las Vegas in March 2005 at the Glass Craft Expo. There, it won second place in its category!

The magnificent glass piece was turned into a poster for Big Cat Rescue with the wonderful help of Mr. Warner, who has a very talented award winning design staff at his web design company, www.TheDogAteMyDesigns.com . In the poster, “Shere Power” is surrounded by pictures of other cats at the sanctuary. In a further act of generosity, Mr. Warner has been selling the poster at trade shows and at his business, and not only donating the proceeds but also matching them with his own donation!

The poster is on sale in our gift shop and online for only $5 and makes a wonderful gift. To help us with the display in the gift shop, Debra Cordell of FASTFRAME generously donated three beautiful frames in different price ranges and offers a 30% discount for anyone who brings the poster in for framing. Debra can be reached at 813-792-1990 or frames4u@tampabay.rr.com  Her shop is around the corner from the sanctuary at 7889 Gunn Highway in the Shoppes of Citrus Park.

Lisa Vogt's stunning glass work can be seen at Originals in Glass, 4430 W Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL 33609-2024, and online at www.originalsinglass.com. She can be contacted at 813-286-2851 or lisa@lisavogt.net.
